Privacy
This notice explains what Assbook collects, why, and what happens to it. Assbook is run by its founders and hosted on Cloudflare; the operating company will be named here once it is registered. Legal requests and questions about your data: accounts@assbook.app.
What we collect
Account details. Your handle, display name, bio, an optional website link, and a hashed password. Your email address, once verified, is used for account recovery and is never shown on your profile.
Signing in with Google. If you choose Continue with Google, Google tells us your Google account number, your email address and your name, and nothing else: not your contacts, calendar, files or Google password. We keep the account number and the email so we know it is you next time, and use the name only as your starting display name. When you join this way, that email becomes your recovery email. You can disconnect Google in Settings once your account has a password.
Content. Posts, replies, likes, bookmarks, follows, blocks, reports and the photos you upload.
Technical data. Your IP address is used for rate limiting and abuse prevention and appears in short-lived server logs. A session cookie keeps you signed in for seven days. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate visit statistics (pages, countries, devices, referrers); it sets no cookies and does not identify you. We do not use advertising trackers.
Photos and the automatic check
Every photo you upload is checked by an image model running on Cloudflare Workers AI before it is stored, to enforce the dress code. The photo is not sent to any other company and is not used to train models. Photos the check is unsure about are stored, shown only to you and the moderator until the moderator has reviewed them, and then either kept or removed. A reported Peek waits the same way. The moderator can see any stored photo for that purpose. Photos are stored as uploaded; we do not currently remove camera metadata such as location, so strip it yourself if that matters to you.
How we use your data
To run the service: showing your profile and posts to other members, delivering account emails, keeping you signed in, preventing abuse, and moderating content. We do not sell data and we do not share it with advertisers.
What visitors can see
Someone without an account can open a link to your profile and see its header: your name, handle, profile photo, bio, website and counts. They can open a link to a single post and see its words and photo, and they can see the thirty newest members on the Community page. That is all. The feed, your other posts, replies, who follows whom, the rest of the Community page, search and Peeks are for signed-in members only, and the server refuses those requests from anyone else.
Who else sees it
Cloudflare hosts the application, the database, photo storage and email sending, and processes data on our behalf under its own terms. If you sign in with Google, Google knows you signed in to Assbook, under Google’s own privacy policy; we send Google nothing about what you do here. Nobody else receives your data unless the law requires it.
Peeks
A Peek is a short clip or a single photo, up for 24 hours. After that a clip is deleted from storage. One still picture from each Peek is kept for you alone next to its views, likes and replies, so you can see what was there: for a photo, the photo itself; for a clip, the frame the automatic check looked at. Nobody else can open it, and it goes when you remove the Peek or delete your account. Photos are re-encoded in your browser before upload, which also removes their location data.
How long we keep it
Content stays until you delete it or your account is removed. Deleted posts are hidden immediately and their photos are removed from storage when nothing else uses them. Uploaded photos that never become a post or profile photo are deleted after a day. Expired sessions and recovery links are cleared automatically. Server logs are kept for a short period for security.
Your rights
You can edit your profile, delete your posts and replies, remove your photo, and change your email or password from Settings. To get a copy of your data, email accounts@assbook.app from your verified address and we will handle it within 30 days.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, from Settings, then Delete account. It asks for your password (or, if you only sign in with Google, a fresh Google sign-in) and one typed confirmation, and it cannot be undone. It removes your profile (name, handle, bio, website, email and profile photo), your uploaded photos from storage, your posts and replies, your peeks with their clips and frames, your follows and followers, your blocks, likes and saved posts, your notifications and the ones your actions sent to other people, every signed-in session, and the connection to your Google account if you had one. Short-lived server logs and aggregate analytics hold no profile data and are not affected. Your handle becomes available to somebody else afterwards.
Children
Assbook is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and we remove such accounts when we learn of them.
